|Another NEW BIRD for Treknature the Black-chested Prinia.|
The Black-chested Prinia (Prinia flavicans) is a species of bird in the Cisticolidae family. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitat is dry savanna.
Distinctive in breeding plumage (summer) with yellow or white underparts; at other times the black breast-band is either absent or vestigial and the underparts pale sulphurous-yellow. The call is a loud, much-repeated âchip-chip chipâ¦â; also an occasional âzrrrrt-zrrrrt-zrrrrtâ. Pairs and small family parties occur in dry thornveld, scrub, rank grass and suburbia.
It is 13-15 cm.
