Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus)
I have captured this 'Glossy Ibis' at Marieval Bird Sanctuary, early in the morning as usual. Very common wading bird in marshland like Marievale. Light was in my favor and I used it the way I want to present this picture. To me only sharpness or details aren't enough to make a good picture. Composition as well as framing with good light and less disturbed background are also play the main role.
It's a small slender Ibis with long curved bill. Adult Glossy Ibises have rich chestnut - brown head, neck, back and underparts. The wings are black with metallic green sheen on the shoulders. |

Hi Srikumar,
Probably you remember that a couple weeks ago, in case of an almost similarly colored bird, I wasn't too enthusiastic about how you captured the morning marshland lights. This is quite the opposite case here - lights, exposure, colors are fabulous each, such as sharpness. I also love the composition where you didn't include more foreground than the necessary, and the whole image itself is harmonic. Congratulations for this fantastic shot.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
Hi Srikumar,
You have captured well the eye contact with the bird. The point of view is showing the details of the Glossy Ibis. The sharpness is very good. The light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
