Migration in Mongolia

|Pallas's Sandgrouses (Syrrhaptes paradoxus) - [Thank's Pirate for the ID] The picture was taken in late September while doing fieldwork in Mongolia (things like to flee from exposed photographers in the steppe...).|
On Mongolia's Eastern Steppe: One of the largest intact grassland ecosystems on the planet, this steppe spills over into China and Russia covering over 800,000 sq. km. in total area. Notable wildlife in this region include: the gray wolf, Mongolian gazelles, corsac foxes, the brown eared pheasant, innumerable birds of prey, and the steppe marmot.

Great use of colour in this photo. The soft earthy tones are lovely. I like the softness of the rolling steppes, but also appreciate the line of sharp grass in the foreground, reminding us of what those soft hills are really made of.
amazing and unusual capture, TFSthis rare sight, Ori
