Pacific Swallow
Size: 14 cm
Description:
Distinguished from the Barn Swallow by its uniformly dusky under-parts and shorter, less forked tail.
Voice:
A high-pitched chattering twit, twit.
Habits:
Found mainly near the coast and around nearby marshes; in the wet tropics also found for inland and in the mountains. During winter, it mixed with migratory Barn Swallows when feeding, but it not a communal roosting sites. The nest is built with mud pellets, under a cliff overhang or man-made structure, often a bridge or a dam.
Distribution:
A common resident breeder throughout the island. |
