Honeycomb grouper (Epinephelus merra)

Groupers(Epinephelus) are my favourite genus in fish world. There are many reasons for this. They are very curious animals and intelligent too! FishBase lists 99 species. I know them from my waters: Turkish waters hold 4 species of this genus and mainly they're are threatened because of illegal spear gun fishing even though they are fully protected by laws.

Honeycomb Grouper takes its name thanks to its wonderful camouflage. It is one of the smaller fish species in the Epinephelus genus, with a maximum known length of 32 centimetres.

Hi Emin,
This looks like a big fish. Great photo in splendid clarity and beautiful colours. Impressive pose with eye contact. Fantastic sharp focus on the head. Wonderful composition.

amazing capture, great composition, TFS Ori

Hi Emin,
This time a beautiful fish instead of a beautiful bird, but even the subject changed, the great photographical level is still the same. Great exposure, interesting "rule-breaking" composition (because the subject is in the corner, not in any third, but the pic itself is pleasant to the viewer), and only from the blue background we may think this is an astro photo. :-) Without the fish, obviously. Good work, nice image. Bravo.
Best regards from Ireland, László

Emin, thanks for letting me know, so beautifully, to lHoneycomb grouper (Epinephelus merra). It is balanced the way you composed this work; with the fish in the lower right corner; and bisecting the photo; a top with navy blue belly; and down, the white sandy bottom. In addition, patches of light that filtered light from the surface of the bed very nice way.

Congratulations friend !!!

Hi Emin!
A very nice shot of this Grouper with a beautiful spotted pattern on its body. Good sharpness and details. Personally i don't like grouper (eating) but they are damn good fighters when hooked. Every year i go for trolling trips in Arabian sea to enjoy tough fight with these predators. We have spotted, Goliath and banded groupers apart from some other varieties in our waters. Every year i lose some lures because of these rocky monsters. This grouper resembles to some extent the Areolate grouper that also has brown to orange smaller spots on a pinkish body.
Regarding your shot, the blue water column is adding beauty to this fine composition. Thanks for sharing a new species i wasn't familiar with,
Best Regards,

Impressive photo Emin! Excellent composition, fantastic colours and very good sharpness! Interesting subject too!
