The ecosystem

Among the many ecological landscapes that can be seen in the Camargue, landscapes with Phragmites australis are particularly characteristic.

Here we can see in the second plane the reedbed, followed by a dune area emerged, populated by Tamarix gallica.

The reed is a plant with multiple applications, both domestic and industrial and can often replace products derived from processing of fossil products (coal or oil). Renewable at wish, this is a material that can be described as "green" (though this should be clarified by an accurate comparative analysis LCA).

Note that ecosystems reeds are known for their virtues treatment (filtration, flocculation and settling, digestion: all the principles of conventional treatment plants, the beauty of the landscape as a "plus").

In the foreground, a dead tree (probably an old Tamarix) used as a support by a wader (probably Egretta garzetta.

Hope that you will visit that area one day.

The picture

Photograph taken in July, mid-afternoon. Camera: Finepix S602 Zoom, with a focal length of 47 mm. The camera is set to aperture priority mode. With a sensitivity equivalent to ISO-200 and an aperture of f/5.6, the speed is 1 / 420th. The opening was chosen to have sufficient speed.
