Big green bush cricket abdominal view.
I made darker BG to make him stand out more.

Quite common during the summer,
There are more than 6,800 species known in American English as katydids and in British English as bush-crickets. It is part of the suborder Ensifera and the only family in the superfamily Tettigonoidea. They are also known as long-horned grasshoppers, although they are more closely related to crickets than to grasshoppers.
The diet of tettigoniids includes leaves, flowers, bark, and seeds, but many species are exclusively predatory, feeding on other insects, snails or even small vertebrates such as snakes and lizards. Some are also considered pests by commercial crop growers and are sprayed to limit growth.
Katydids have incomplete metamorphosis (egg-nymph-adult). Katydids lay their eggs in many places including the soil, in stems of plants, and in bark of trees. Nymphs are very similar to the adults, except they are smaller and lack fully developed wings. The nymph goes through several molts (generally five), gradually developing into an adult.

This is an intetersting picture, the final result is very good, I think that simetric composition will be better in this case.

Hi Tanja,
Wow, how on earth did you get this POV? An interesting shot, I've never seen a cricket from this angle before. Elroyie suggests a symmetrical composition, which of course would be great if the cricket would oblige :-) I think because of the angle of the head and tail, you've angled this perfectly. I have no doubts about your artistic ability!

Hi Tanja.
One of the best your close-up shot and very creative idea. Everything is the best: sharpness, details, colours, lighting and dark BG. BRAVO and my best wishes.

P.S. I know your camera very well. My sister, Tanja too, has the same one. That is why I know what I say.
