The brochures painted a picture of La Serena full of bird life. Endangered species which can find a last resort in the Steppe's of central Spain. the number of birds was not quite of what I expected but the tranquility, pureness en great ambiance of sunrise a 6 a.m. in La Serena was one to never forget. Bustards, larks, several species of wheatears, eagles etc etc were great. But most of all.....the silence.

This was one of the birds I found early in the morning. A short toed lark. I sat quietly beside a digitalis, whilst a calander lark did the the best it could to mark it's territory.
I can recommend this place to everyone!

Hi Jacob

Your title and note sum this posting up very well. The back light is very effective here. The composition is great too.

Hello Jacob,
La Serena should be a great place for birds, we have considered going there but the brochures do often exaggerate a bit. Anyway, this is a fine capture of the little Short-toed Lark on top of the fine rock. A fine wild Digitalis too. Beautiful light, sharp details and fine colours in this lovely composition.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hello Jacob,
A fine composition that includes both the Short-toed Lark and the Foxglove in great klighting and presented with excellent exposure and sharpness. The lichen-covered rock is an added bonus. Nice one from your archives. I have not yet been able to get a good shot of this species of lark.
Well done and thanks for sharing this,
Best wishes,
Ivan

Hi Jacon, a lovely catch of this pretty little Lark, all set in a nice natural setting. I like the pov with the foreground and the flower giving the scene and the bird some perspective. The Lark is nice and sharp with good dtail on the plumage, great pose and all bathed nice light and colours. Lovely comosition. Very useful note also.
