This weekend a miracle occurred: I saw this insect in my mountain, in the morning. It looked rare even flying as it is not a butterfly nor a dragonfly. Very carefully I could approach to it and take a shot good enough to show you this! What an emotion until I could see it in my computer!

The Libelloides coccajus is a really weird animal. It lives in mountain areas.
Although Owlfly resembles Apparently the dragonfly, it belongs to the Neuroptera instead of a Odonata, and has the long antenna of which tip is spread. Although feather is long, unlike a dragonfly, it does not have edge pattern, and it folds and stops at a roof type. It can fly in the shape of a straight line quite quickly.

Take from this beautiful page. Take a look to this page!.

I have no idea about this animal, but Filipe Caetano has one shot of a similar insect and Robert brown gave a hint. Thank to them I can identify this beauty.

Hi Jose, you were very lucky to meet this strange insect ! Details and colors on the wings are fantastic, good POV, very nice composition. Picture is a bit dark in my opinion, but that's a minor detail, just having been able to capture this insect make it a great photo. Very well done !
Valérie.

Hello Jose,
Superb post! These are amazing creatures. I wish I could see one of these someday.
This one has really amazing wings. The picture has very good POV and details. Pity that the owlfly's head in in shadow, but apart from that this is a good picture and overall, a very interesting pose from you!
VERY WELL DONE!

Hello Jose,
Very strange..and beautiful looking insect.
Looks great in the vertical frame..
Excellent color, DOF, sharpness, detail, and I like the POV as well. I just wish you had a bit more light up underneath the subject.

Very beautiful insect!
I know it on a blue coliur, but I have no photos of it yet.
Peaty we can't see the insect quite well. The photo is to dark over the insect's head and body.
TFS!

Hi José,
very interesting insect you show us.
These rapidly moving raptor insects - moth flies - seem to be hunting butterflies on sunny meadows, looking like butterflies themselves.
The image you have taken shows very good details, and I think it would profit by a little bit of lighting up.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter
