"EGYPTIAN FRUIT BAT".

The word "BAT" comes from Old Norse "ledhrblaka", "leather flapper". It became "bakka" and eventually ended as "BAT".

All bats have tails, very short ones. They are mammals. And, a VAMPIRE bat does exist. It does suck blood of sleeping animals e.g. donkeys, cows, wild beasts etc:. I have personally seen them in Terceira, Azores.

I registered this image with a Sony DSC H9, in utter darkness, in the Calgary Zoo "Australia & Creatures of the Night" building on 26th. September 2007 with the night switch in the "ON" position. I passed it through my tools to enlighten it before presenting it to you. This has been quite a challenge for me seeing that my knowledge of both, photography and computers, is extremely limited.

And, if you follow the links on this great image you will see a collection of the different types of European bats put together by my TN friend Radomir Jaskula, screen name cicindela from Lodz in Poland, a University Professor in Lodz.

The original was full of noise so I've replaced it via the W/S with this one.

Hello Mario
This bat was a tricky image to capture, especially through glass and in the dark. Considering all that you did a great job! I think some bats have such a cute face and thanks to the Calgary Zoo I was able to get up close to relize that.

You try so hard to get things which are unique. You are a tenacious man with a big heart...I saw the others you linked to. I also understand your nose problems. I can not fix it..I am not a good workshop person, however considering all that you do and all that you have done..one has to take many factors into account yes? With warmest wishes..

Namastay Mario,
Yes there is very much noise due to very darkness and also I think due to the glass boundary. Still then well captured. A nice subject about which I had no idea previously. The WS has come out a bit better. Well tried and thanks a lot for sharing.

Sincerely,
Haraprasan

I have a special place in my heart for bats..not sure why but bats and frogs enchant me. ha ha :)
Great shot!

Hi Mario

You attempted a very difficult shot there and I think you caught some lovely details. I saw the WS and you did a nice job with the noise issue. I do love to see shots of bats so thank you

Karan

Hi, dear Mario.
I see you like extreme too. First, extremely good note (as usual). Second, extreme light conditions and ISO. Result is very nice (I mean both pictures: original one and WS). Colours, exposure and composition are very good. My greetings and TFS.
Alexei.
