"THE KING OF NOTHING".
We call it the "King of Beasts" "El Rey" "Simba" etc: etc: And, we are right. It is the "KING" of the wild. Soon the statement will read "... it WAS".
However, in this case, in the image you are seeing "it" is "The King of Nothing". Why, .... you say??? It is caged in a zoo; in an area 250' x 250' = 62,500 square feet. It is housed with 3 females within this confined space. No place to run & chase game. It is a prisoner; not a "KING" at all.
IT IS MAJESTIC LOOKING INSPITE OF ITS IMPRISONMENT.
In the near future this is the only place where our great grand children will be able to see what a "LION" looks like ... in ZOOS. We, MAN, are destroying this beautiful & only home we have. Even our "SEEDS" have been destroyed at an alarming rate. It is so bad that to help man in his folly we are building the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.
Here is a real beauty by Anton Prinsloo of TN. He has given a brief but thorough explanation of the life of this species.
Another great image. by Annick Vanderschelden of TN.

Hello Oscar,
Are we a bit tired, maybe?
Great capture of the moment, and the King is displaying an impressive set of teeth!
Well framed and good details in the fur coat...
Greetings,

Hi, dear Mario.
Amazing close-up of the majestic animal at so attractive moment. I like perfect sharpness and reproduction of the lion hair and other cute features, I also like excellent cropping (despite the cut of nose tip). I think the King will forgive to you this joke : ))). Bravo and my kind regards.
Alexei.

Hello Mario !
This is a wonderful capture, you have frozen the lion at the perfect moment, with the mouth wide open so we can see his impressive teeth. A bit sad, though, to know that he is emprisoned in a small cage, and that maybe some day there will be no wild lion left. Thank you for this picture, and very well done !
Valerie.
