Grey-Crowned Crane can be found mainly in dry savannah in Africa, south of the Sahara desert.
The nest of this Crane is built from grass and other types of plants in tall wetland vegetation.It is approximately 1m tall and weighs 3.5kg.
Body plumage is mainly grey with wings colored in white with feathers of different colors.
The head of this crane has a crown with stiff golden feathers-very nice and beautiful.
As all cranes from its family,this one feeds on insects,reptiles and small mammals.
Grey-Crowned Crane eats grass seeds and insects and is a national bird of one of the african countries-Uganda and features on the national flag and coat of arms.
Photo was taken at Calgary Zoo,could not bypass this wonderful bird without taking photo of it.

Hi Mike,
This is the Grey-Crowned Crane(Balearica regulorum)
It has been featured many times on TN and always makes an interesting subject.(Type 'crane' in the search box and you will find lots of them).
This is a really nice shot of it.
Good composition,sharpness and colour.
Now you have the name, you can do a bit of research and write a note about it.
