Today I dedicate this young American Bald Eagle to Evelynn Smith (Evelynn here on TN ),whom has in recent uploads shown photos taken in British Columbia of bald eagles in very difficult conditions but they are in my eyes , right as rain!Evelynn these photos are for you.

This eagle was so far to date, the closest I have ever been to a wild baldy and a young one at that.I had spotted it a long ways off and hoped that I could get in closer to it for some shots, well I certainly did.While making my way nearer to the bird, my cowboy boots became soaked right through to my socks as the grasses and other plants were covered in a heavy dew but I don't ever let a minor inconvenience like a little water stop me in getting my photos.I was able to circle this bird and get as near as 12 feet from it.The angle of it looking toward the sun was the first of several shots taken and I ended up with the sun to my back.In all I took some 300 photos of this bird until it flew over to a nearby tree and met up with yet an other eagle and then I took several more shots of the two together.Next both these birds flew off and the new bird landed not far away from me and I got another 120 shots of that one as well. I take both jpegs and raw images at the same time and all of my uploads are those of the jpegs edited with the Paint.Net program.I hope you all enjoy this photo and go snap happy when interesting subjects present themselves to you and try as many angles as possible for amongst all those photos you will get the one or two that says this is what I am,this is my essential nature and being.Thanks for viewing.

Good notion on the dedication. Eve is such a strong and worthy teacher and her elements of Eagles in the last few posts far outdo anything I have done...as the same can be said of this one...I had a chance to tell some that I had a chance in the 1990's early on to post one now...but I ended up in all sort of troubles...I wasn't aware the US government was tracking the and on my own property....Very nice bob!

Hello Bob,

There is a very fine light falling on bird's face showing well feathers eye and impressive beak. You have chosen a good POV as despite your rear position you have had good eye contact. The existing light has been well used so that colors pf the plumage are shown in a reachness fo color tones.

Quelle belle photo Bob, I don't have much time to critique, I'm on a rush contract this week, but this picture, I had to do so. The light is fantastic, shining on the face of this beautiful bird so we can admire its strong features, what a character. The softness and beauty of the feathers are amazing. Superb shot and by the way, if we'd collect all the notes of your posts and publish them along with the pictures, you'd be in front of a book called: The cowboy boot widlife photographer's adventures. You have style and push it, it's so fun and interesting to read. Many thanks Bob!

and expressive bird of prey style glance, i love the way
on part of the eagle being againts daylight (en contre-jour),
fine POV and framing, excellent sharpness and details, TFS

Wow!! Thanks Bob! These both are so nice. I'm not sure how to tell a young baldy from a golden... unless I see the yellow feet! I love the sunlight caught right on the beak...which of course is such a distinctive feature of the eagle. The catchlight is great too. This shot is just so clean and technically superb. I love it!

I don't think I take enough shots when I have the chance. You took 420 shots of them that day!!! I guess I need to be more "snap happy! I'm not as used to taking wildlife, but I can see that a lot of shots is the way to go with moving targets.
