Dedicated to my nephew James Alexander of Calgary, Alberta, Canada who wondered: "What is this..... the Baha-i Faith"???
By "this" I mean the COLD, COLD -29*C plus the snow of 8th.December 2008 that has inflicted its harsh blow unto us even today on 26th. December 2008.
Now look at where we were as of 23rd. November 2008 enjoying the +, yes, PLUS 27*C in sunny Haifa, Israel just a few latitudes below Calgary. Of course, Calgary is also about 3000' above sea level. [ It's exact location: 51*02' 42" N 114*03' 26"W and 3440' above sea level. ] { And, Haifa's exact location: 32*49' N 34*59' E at 0' feet of the sea level.} What a mere 19* in Latitude & 3000 feet of altitude can mean to a region of the world.
Hence, knowing Calgary to be so intensely cold why did we return? Better still, why did we visit Haifa & that part of Israel???????
We were there in Pilgrimage to Haifa for 9 days. We went to visit Akka, the PRISON CITY where LORD BAHA-U-LLAH was incarcerated for many many years. This was the SEA GATE via which HIS arrival had been foretold ions ago by the prophets of old.
Part Three "The Proof" of the book: "THIEF IN THE NIGHT" by William Sears on pages 118, 119 and 136,137 and 147 proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the year 1844, the exact year, BAHA-U-LLAH's faith started, was when the "EDITH OF TOLERATION" was signed permitting the descendents of Jacob to return to ISRAEL with freedom and security after 12 centuries of seperation.
Following the appearance of BAHA-U-LLAH Himself in the land of Israel, the Jews began to return in greater numbers to the HOLY LAND, until, in the year 1948, the State of Israel itself was formed. BAHA-U-LLAH had Himself prophesied that this great event would take place in not too distant a future. HE wrote:"The outcasts of Israel shall gather and create a state that will become the envy and admiration of both their friends and enemies and outwardly and spiritually they willl attain to such glory that their 2000 years of abasement will be forgotten." HE spoke with authority. Why? Here is the answer. HE is "HIM WHOM GOD SHALL MAKE MANIFEST".
Arthur Moore, "THE" Christian writer with respect to Bahji says:"..... it is a place of international pilgrimage." Each year THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of people of all religions, races and colours visit this SACRED SPOT.
Samuel ben Judah Valerio, a Biblical commentator calculated ".... that the end of the present exile (of the Jews) would be in the year 5628 of the Jewish calender era." Strangley enough, 1868, 31st. August, is the EXACT DATE on which LORD BAHA-U-LLAH arrived in Israel,in the HOLY LAND. Thus 1868 marked the end of HIS long wanderings from Persia, exiled and FORCEFULLY MOVED by the ruling classes of HIS time from city to city until, unknowingly, these rulers became the instruments of destiny, fulfilling the prophecies of the BIBLES OF "ALL" THE RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD. HE had come, at last, to the 'nest of the prophets', (Mount Carmel.). HE had also symbolically brought to an end the spiritual exile of the children of Israel. Wish you could read and understand HIS work.
This is why we too went to sunny Israel and returned to COLD COLD CALGARY, Alberta, Canada. We went as THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS do .... every year!!! |

Beautiful shot...well composed. The darker lighting makes viewer 'feel' the cold.

Hi Mario,
Beautiful winter landscape.Well caught and composed.POV,exposure and DOF are excellent.
Thanks for posting.
Hallo Mario
I have missed a lot of your beautiful images lately, and therefore would like to wish you a belated Merry Christmas, as this scene just reminds me once again of the "Winter wonderland" associated with a snow covered Christmas. A very beautiful view of a snowy landscape. In the part of our country where we live, we would never be able to see such a true winter landscape, as the temperature rises more than 40C and it is hot and very humid. Thanks for this very special image presented in a delightful manner. Thanks for sharing this special dedication.
Best regards.
Anna

Dear Mario,
How have you been?
This is a post-card image so right for the season even though Christmas and the first few days of the New Year have come and gone...yet the snow must be coming down in Calgary with all its vigour... of sub-zero cold January winter and the pines must be heaving underneath the cloudy sky....The framing and the composition is beautiful and reflects the mood of the grey winter every bit.
Thank you so much for sharing and i hope both of you are doing fine enjoying the New Year.Do accept my wishes for a peaceful and healthy 2009.
Warm regards
Silpa
