"ALPINE IBEX".
Mountaineering Experts.
The Alpine ibex specializes in high-altitude climbing. Without ropes, axes or other mountaineering equipment, these goats are able to scale sheer cliffs and jagged rocks. Thick, strong legs and a cloven hoof with soft, gripping underpads, prevent slips and falls. Excellent jumpers, they can leap to heights of 4 meters.
Here is its PROFILE.
A Horn of Plenty
The long, notched horns of the males are used to defend harems of females during the breeding season.Rising up on hindlegs, they will beat their horns together from above. Actual fighting is quite rare and most encounters consist of threat displays which merely show-off the size of their horns. The female also adorn horns; but, they are dwarfish compared to the males.
Family: Bovidae
Size: 30 - 117 kg.
Habitat: Alpine meadows up to 3500 meters.
Natural Diet: Vegetation.
