"White-faced Whistling-duck".
GUARDING A TREASURE.

The original image was registered from about 40' away. I cropped it and ENLARGED it.

Am having fun while trying to learn to use this new equipment; and, IT IS NOT A JOKE!!!

What is sooooo precious about a duck???

"LIFE"

Yes, this beauty, slightly "fogged" on the left bottom, has hatched 6 tiny ducklings. [ This fog is produced artificially at the Calgary Zoo within the building exibiting African species. ]

I shall go back next fortnight to register them. {The babies.} They should be playing around by then, on their own, away from the protective female.

" ...This species is gregarious, and at favoured sites, the flocks of a thousand or more birds arriving at dawn are an impressive sight . As the name implies, these are noisy birds with a clear three-note whistling call....."

Hence, its name, "White-faced Whistling-duck" .

Our friend, member of TN, Adrian Jacob Lok, by the screen name, adrik, has registered this species by title of Duck. I took the liberty to "copy" the paragraph in quotes from his notes which, I believe, came originally from "Wikipedia".

It has been fun using the EOS 5D Mark II.

P.S. TN Terms of service: "....Photos of wildlife in captivity (game parks, zoos) are allowed, but these shots must show no trace of the enclosures or cages keeping these animals inside. "
The subject was registered at the Calgary Zoo in Alberta Canada. And, it being "posted" here is NOT in violation of the Terms of service.

Aires, thank you for sharing this picture. I like your note stating the "Violating' Good work. Ganesh

Nice gear there Mario....it gives a man some things to do in retirement...same as I...although I do tend to go off the deep end...I am without (sans) money to get this nice gear. Your image has a very unique quality. I wouldn't call it noise..something else...almost as if it were meant to be shot this way...
Bob
