"WHITE-FACED WHISTLING DUCKS".

Only a few days ago I had posted the mother "GUARDING A TREASURE". She was guarding 6 ducklings within that brood. However, a co-resident of the African exibit building, the African White spoonbill, alias, Platalea alba, assumed the little ducklings to be a "free" meal; and, it swallowed one baby the moment the mother was off guard. We, the public, were mad. There was nothing we could do. It quickly grabbed another baby. Much to our surprise it let the little one go. It hid under its mother. THAT WAS CLOSE.

I later found out that only 2 had eventually survived. And, here they are. [ They are very very wet. They've just got out of the tiny pond where they were playing around.]

Namastay Mario,
A nice capture of this beautiful whistling duck and its babies. Sharp details and a nice composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Sincerely
Haraprasan from ++40DegC

Beautiful close in shot Mario..Since Mario of Quebec no longer posts, we now have a shortage of Marios...and your images as usual come with such good lesson plans...I personally appreciate the time and effort you put into your work.
Bob

Hi Mario,

The whistling duck is always so beautiful. You have captured the family well on their outing here. Sharp details and fine exposure of the plumage.

TFS and best regards,
Jusni

Hi, dear Mario.
After business trip I have caught a cold and have not recovered finally yet. Strong headaches, cough, etc did not allow me to visit TN and do anything. Now I am almost OK and can get pleasure from your next picture. However, first pf all I congratulate you on purchasing an excellent telelens. Nice use of it. Perfect DOOF selection and details of the cute family. Bravo and my kind regards.
Alexei.
