"BELIEVE IT OR NOT"!!!

I stand corrected by Asbed of TN known to us as the: CeltickRanger.
Please note that the bird in the 3rd. series of this story is a COMMON GRACKLE.
Here is a copy of Asbed's note to me:
"hello Mario

excellent close-up photo of the Common Grackle
with a fine low POV at its level, and also excellent
series of photos of the other birds, TFS

Asbed."

THANK YOU... Asbed.

Within this brood parasitic species the female is assured of "fertilisation" by mating with several males several times.

Sometime ago I came across a couple of birds mating; I was at that time registering Pelicans. Was not ready for this. I did click anyway. And this was the result:
The story starts here. XXXXX Second male shows... XXXXX ENLARGED... XXXXXAireal fight ensues... XXXXX The fight continues... XXXXXThe winner's turn to mate... XXXXXShe takes the new mate into the 'bushes'... XXXXXBrown-headed cowbird. XXXXX He mates her several times in these bushes... XXXXXThe winner. XXXXXBoth are exausted...

Went home, did my research to discover them to be "Brown-headed" Cowbirds.

As time went by I revisited those areas. Now, I stumbled on to the "Surrogate" White-throated Sparrow feeding two huge chicks of this species.... hence, I kept clicking:
Baby Cow bird. XXXXX Surrogate feeding baby cowbird. XXXXX White-throated sparrow the surrogate. XXXXX Unconcerned of my presence she feeds. XXXXX The original image 60' away. XXXXX Surrogate parent is sooo tiny. XXXXX The baby is 3 times the size. XXXXX It wants more food. XXXXX They are quite aware of my person. XXXXX Sparrow goes to find more food... baby follows. XXXXX Sparrow cares for two cowbird babies. XXXXX Surrogate looking for mites. XXXXX Has to feed two hungry chicks. XXXXX It is so lovely.... XXXXX Both babies are hungry. XXXXX A human passes by..they fly ... XXXXX Baby cowbird hiding... XXXXX However not frightened of me... XXXXX Jumps to meet the surrogate parent... XXXXX Surrogate to the left. XXXXX Nature in action...

We have been EXTREMELY busy looking after my aged mother-in-law; and have had no time for images. But, on the 20th.September 2009 at about 10:45 AM a very large flock/band of the SHINNY cowbirds visited our front and back yards. Here are a few of the images:
Shinny Cowbird visit. XXXXX Looking for tiny insects. XXXXX Insect in its beak. XXXXX Forage for Ladybirds. XXXXX Ladybird in beak. XXXXX Gotta ya. XXXXX Magnificient Species. XXXXX About to wish me 'good-bye'. XXXXX Portrait of its MOST BEAUTIFUL back. XXXXX SHINNY COWBIRD

The following will give you some more details. Shinny Cowbird.

Global is the word, Mario!
:)
I love this beautiful shot of this bird, I thought it was a crow at first look!
Very well done!

Hi Aires, very impressive POV here. And the title also wonderful.
TFS and cheers,
Bayram

Hi Mario,

The close-up view is allowing us to see the details and colors of the common grackle. Its sharp and clear. The subject is well framed. The colors are enhanced by the quality of light. Have a nice day.

Pierre

the details of the plumage are impressive - but most of all I appreciate the natural colours! Your bird looks like a living creature and not - as so many other photos - like a painting in a Bird Book.
Very well done!
Regards
Ingrid

Hello Mario,
Great close up of this black bird, good documents.

Hi Mario

Wow, this is absolutely a unique posting and I'm sure it must be a TrekNature first. Over time I've received a number of dedications on this site, but it is the first one with a string of 42 images linked to it. There is quite enough material to share between the 3 of us (Jenny, my friend Subhash, and I) whom all received this fabulous series. Thank you so much. I am truly blessed with a wonderful friend like you.

A very interesting POF. The shot from the rear gives us the opportunity to see the lovely sheen on this birds plumage. A bonus that it turned its head so one can also catch a glimpse of that amazing white eye. The detail and colours are good.

Well done and tfs my friend.
Best regards to both you and to Bernardete.
