Kananaskis River

While out canoeing on Barrier Lake a few weeks ago, we reached the end of the lake and pulled the canoe to shore then walked up the river that was feeding the Lake. I loved the view of the autumn colours, river and distant mountains.

The Kananaskis River is 74 km (46 miles) long. The source is from the mountains to the south and west of our location at 2720 m (8924 ft). After the water flows out of the mountains it then flows into two large lakes, the upper Kananaskis Lake and then the Lower Kananaskis Lake. Between the two lakes is a dam and after Barrier Lake is another dam.

Hi Janice. I like this compostion of the River and hillside. My eyes are taken up into the picture. Taken from a good POV. with natural looking colours of autumn . Well taken TFS.

Nice this landscape with some beautiful colors.
Excellent play. It seems that is the evening landscape. It is the fourth so far.

Rick Price has been secretly sending me some of these images of what is happening up there...and it looks somewhat similar as to down here...but I'm not entirely sure of this area...I shall have to go look it up. One thing is for sure....images such as this let me know I am not alone...and that being said because the Rockies are the only thing beyond the 49th which separate us..and I can see the Rockies from high points in Cheney!

You have wonderful images in your portfolio. Looking at this refreshing scene makes me forget for a few moments about the sweltering heat and uncomfortably conditions we normally have in the summer. How I would love to be on this unspoilt place right now. The nature you have captured here is awesome. This is my kind of photograph.
