[Normas para las notas] Notas del fotógrafo
hello friends, from my 2008 year archives

from the Pennsylvania State University here is
some notes about the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit :

http://www.psu.edu/dept/nkbiology/naturetrail/speciespages/cottontail.htm

« The eastern cottontail rabbit is one of the most
common mammals of both the natural and the
human generated ecosystems of North America.
It is especially abundant in habitats that contain
edges of open, grassy fields and thorny or shrubby cover.
Both early stage successional ecosystems and many
managed suburban landscapes are conducive to both
the habitat and food needs of the cottontail.
The grass monocultures of some suburban communities,
though, do not in themselves provide sufficient food
varieties for cottontail nutrition. Further, the simplification
of rural habitats (via the large scale consolidation of
agricultural fields, the removal of fence rows and hedgerows,
the aging and deterioration of shelter belts, and the
overgrazing of pastures and range lands) has reduced
the extent of some of the habitats that have in the
past sustained the eastern cottontail.

Rabbit or Hare?
The term "rabbit" and the term "hare" are often
used as synonyms but are not at all interchangeable.
The most obvious difference between these two types
of small, grazers is the shape of their ears: hares have
much longer ears than rabbits and the ears of hares
tend to have black colored tips. There are also significant
differences in the two groups' burrowing habits
(only rabbits make underground burrows) and in the
characteristics of their young (rabbits have
naked newborns, hares have furred newborns). »

Merci

I wish I were younger, as here and it was summer as here and I could hop. Now that has been a long time ago, but these beasts do it all the time. they were born to hop!
Bob

Very well done!

Hello Asbed,
The best sharp shooter I have ever seen is my CeltikRanger, and there you are with your 499th post with this handsome cottontail; which has come out very well in this frame against green background. Excellent work, many more to come from you who believes in goodness, happiness, is a great animal lover & above all is a very nice human being. God bless.
Best wishes-Subhash Ranjan

I like the setting here Asbed, good stop action and detail.
Nice bunny :)

Bonsoir Asbed,

Une bonne capture de ce lapin en mouvement. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs du lapin. Le sujet est bien cadré. La lumière donne un bon contraste aux couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Hello Asbed,
One that I missed!
Nice capture of an Eastern Cottontail taken as an action shot as it runs from the viewer. The sharpness and colours are excellent and it contrasts well with thelush green grass.
Thanks and all the best,
Ivan
