This past September was a gem of a month with a few of the days setting new temperature highs. As nice as record high temperatures are concerned there is unfortunately a downside, with no rain or precipitation to speak of ,all of my favourite ponds and sloughs are basically none existent and the fire hazard has been greatly increased.Still most people enjoy fair weather and have little liking for cold or damp and I'm really no exception too.The ladybird beetles and the aphids would probably tell you if they could ,they prefer warm sunny days also.So on an usually warm late September day I photoed this scene of Seven Spot Ladybird Beetles along with the hapless aphids that the beetles were eating even though ants usually protect them. What I didn't know or they is that less than a week later most would be dead or dying from-wait for it,record cold temperatures in the first days of October.Alberta is not for the faint of heart when it comes to wild temperature changes as I have experienced a few times what would be temperatures from three different seasons all in the space of a few hours:-25C in the morning and by noon hour 5C and by 4pm 17C,winter, spring and early summer all in the same day.40 degree temperature swings do happen here where I live but not very often, still it makes me wonder what the future holds climate wise. Are the things that live here on Earth going to be able to adapt to extremes nature throws at them as well as human made changes or are many just going to fall by the wayside? Hummm... I hope you enjoy these insects living their lives on the leaves and stems of the golden rod plant.

Hi Bob. Now thats what you call a difference in the weateher. You have taken a bright close up of the Lady Birds as we call them. Your use of the light has given bright colours and fine detail. Well taken TFS.

hello Bob,
A very charming picture with all these ladybirds looking for aphids. It looks like a little house where all flats are occupied by some charming creature. Very well seen. Amazing how temperatures change so quickly. This sometimes happens in my region too.
Thanks and kind regards
Anne
