Leaping Spider Orchid
|[Normas para las notas] Notas del fotógrafo|
|The genus Caladenia has some 240 species, most of them endemic to Australia and with more than half of them endemic to the South-West of Western Australia. The species vary in shape, with the Spider Orchids being the most spectacular. This particular species (C. macrostylis) is typical of the group, but with subdued colours overall and smaller than most. |
This specimen was growing near the fire break on my block. I have never seen before or since. The dense black calli on the labellum in the centre of the flower are characteristic of the species.

Really beautiful this composition, where you put clear all the indescribable beauty of this orchid, while you create a work of abstract features.
