Hi all!

If only it would be Patagonia! Since my purse does not allow the trip to the land of (my) dreams, I have to be content with the Widdergalm (2174m) in the Prealps of my homeland. And the more I go up to that mountain or the others around it, the more I believe that this "little" Patagonia is quite the right one for a little mountaineer like me. And finally, if I want to be honest, I'm happy with "my" mountain world at a 20 min. drive from my home.

I took this picture the same day as the one of my last posting, but if the last one was taken from the summit of the Schafarnisch, this one is from the beginning of the ski tour after about half an hour of walking.

Even if this is not really the kind of pictures I like most - those who know me also know that I like abstract pictures very much - I nevertheless am attached to it because it is linked with deep emotions. The ones that always overcome me when I'm out in that fabulous nature, when I think at my father who - when I was a child - showed my the beauty of nature and the pleasure of going to the mountains.

Thanks Daddy!

Markus

It is your "Papatagonia! ;-) You really are pitiful, poor poor Markus, so far from papatagonia! I'm just kidding Markus, but your mountains are quite something and it is a breathtaking landscape! That seems to be fresh air and it is so beautiful, those mountains are impressive! I'm sure it's not as wild as Patagonia but it doesn't look far from its wildness. I really like the way you framed the picture from one side with the snowy slope at left and the other side with the dark curve of the evergreen. So know how to compose an image and it is wonderful. Merci! Et nous sommes voisins aujourd'hui,

Francine

I would be more than happy to live so close to this beautiful scene, Markus!

The way that you have caught the f/g slope in shadow really makes this shot special! The composition, details and light management are very good.

great mountain scene and good lighting, the thing that really interests me is the foreground how on one side is pine trees and the left is a slightly curving slope of snow

Hola Markus,
bello manumento natural,
buen pov, color y detalles...
saludos amigo.

Nice one Markus! I can sense a chill from looking at that large mountain! "Your" Mountain is very nice, I wish I were that close, I am about 40 miles from the nearest Mountain, and about 60 miles from Wonderful Mountains. Although I am fortunate enough to be able to get a view from my roof. Very nice! Cheers Josh Lewis.

Hello Markus,
Thank you so much for sharing your kingdom as a mountaineer!
True beauty of the mountain with a perfect pov with great displayed of light and shadows over it!
nice colour contrast between the blue and the snow
well done
best regards
Tony

Hi Markus!

As I said last time too I love your abstracts and you know that but still I'm glad we can see landscapes too sometimes from you! I can't see landscapes like yours from others, first because you live at that particular place, second because you have a particular way of capturing.
There is a somehow gentle softness on the surfaces that I don't see elsewhere but in your pictures only. But this softness is NOT lack of sharpness, i cannot explain how these two things softness and sharpness can go thogether like this but it's unique for sure.
And exposeure is like if you had twice the dinamics on your sensor than mine, I either get over or under, or seemingly too low contrast in a situation like this. TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hello Markus,
An impressive summit that is captured with great details!
The snowy mountain contrasts so well with the dark forest, all making up this moist attractive composition...

Hi Marjus,
wonderfully exposed and composed...ok it might not have the same altitude as your dreamland Patagonia but it's just as beautiful my friend. I envy your proximity to the mountains but i am glad that you appreciate them so much.

Hello Markus,
You're very lucky to live so close to this magic landscape! But I suppose we always think that grass is greener on the other side... I understand your love for heights as I've experienced being near 'heaven' in Ladakh at 4,500 metres. It's a very special feeling!
Wonderful capture of this snow-clad mountain in bright sunshine. A lovely composition from a nice POV.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Markus.
Many thanks for opportunity to meet your really amazing photo collection and kind words of comments.

This picture is so wonderful as others from your gallery. Fine place and view, simply great framing and composition, superb exposure, impressive lights and shadows, nice rich colours and terrific sharpness of the entire image. Bravo. Excellent work. It would be better for me to know what kind lens you use taking every shot. My best regards and TFS.

Hi Markus,
Outstanding shot and a superb view captured here with skilfull use of natural lighting and exposure levels. Very neat and sharp image and I like the diagonals. The snow covered peak looks awesome. Excellent POV to portray this charming scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Prercioso trabajo.
Un abrazo: Josep Ignasi

Hi Markus, superb mountain full of snow, splendid light and fantastic colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Markus

Right now I would be more than happy to be fit enough just to be able to even get to see the mountain, let alone climb it - if my skills level is even up to it... I think my level is still at the Scotland level rather than out your way!

Anyhow it is nice to dream and maybe one day I will be well enough and have the skills and confidence to be able to consider ;your' mountain!

Love the composition even if it is not your preferred style. For me it is a view of the mountains which I am missing so very much at the moment.

Take care and TFS
Emma

Hi Markus,
you sorprise me with the title of this picture. After reading at your note I only can think about how much fortune we have to live close to those mountains we love.
Now that I´m living far from there I can´t stop thinking how much I miss them but any time I go back I give my thanks, as you, to my parents because they tought me to love that place and show me how great it is... and because they made everything they could so i can grow up sorrounded by the Andes.

This picture is great, Markus!I can feel the cold air of the morning and the little sunlight... lovely. You have a gift: you can show others how you can feel in that place... that´s great!
YOu know how much I love mouintains so this picture is GREAT!The colour of the snow is amazing and that forest at the right.... makes me wish to be there!

My dream is to ski downhill in Switzerland and yours is to visit my lovely patagonia... we can do something with that! (we must do!) jaja

oh! don´t forget, patagonia it´s expecting you too... you are invited at any time, I alredy told you. You already have house, food and mouintains expecting you.
TFS and have a great weekend
Regards
Brenda

Hi Markus,

I really like this. The composition is simple but effective, and the exposure is perfect. This shot has a sense of both tranquility and impending danger, rather like a sleeping giant. Very pretty landscape, but one to respect too I'm sure.

Mike

Hallo Markus
What a wonderful photo to share with us. I think seeing a scene like this in real life must be an awesome experience. The Creator of All is just wonderful to have formed and shaped the beautiful nature all around us to admire and appreciate, and this photo of yours is such proof of His Mighty Creation. This is really a magnificent landscape view, with a mix of blue sky, snowy covered mountains and pine shaped trees in the foreground. Thanks for sharing and thanks also for sharing the respect you have for your daddy. It is much appreciated.
Kind regards
Anna

nice postcard :) TFS Ori

Hi Markus,
Nice composition. Exposure is very well managed. It is kind of hard to take photos of snowy areas. Snow becames gray instead of white, details get lost, inadequate dynamic range causes shadowy areas dark... Your photo has none of them. Good work. And dont feel sad about 20 min. drive. I have to take a 4 hours drive to go to someplace like there. :-)

Best regards,
Ali

Hi Markus,
You want to go to Patagonia, and in my country some call ,in the past, to some of places specially Bariloche, the little Swiss or the argentinian Swiss....fortunately Patagonia is taken its own personality.
I´ve going to Patagonian Andes 18 years ago and want to go soon! its a marvelous place, you must to go if its possible(but money rules...:( )
coming back to your image I think it´s fantastic, with a great sharpness and composition. Light is the right, monitor seems to be a window to your homeland
Regards
Hernán

Well, Markus, take heart in that you may not be in Patagonia, but you have both the landscapes and the skills to provide a visual image to us that is equally appealing (I've never been to either location... so much to see and so little time)!

The sunlit peak, the obvious crisp cold, and the incredible blue sky... add to that the sloping aspect in the foreground working its way down and to the right that balances the mountain in the background... wow!

Thank you for sharing, Sir. Brilliant image.
