I took this picture last week, on the most wonderful afternoon you could imagine - sun, blue sky, warm temperatures, and I was at my lake with a good friend. Could you imagine anything better than this ?

In fact, I was with Laila, who used to be a TN member some years ago under the name of "friday". I don't know if there is still anybody here who can remember her. She has got a baby now, she's waiting for a second baby, she still loves photography and we go out together from time to time. I met her through TN and I will be forever grateful to this site, because she's a wonderful woman and I'm proud to count her as a friend.

We were looking for the Coypus, or frogs, or some water bird, but then igt is always the same - I came home with lots of pictures, but not what I expected. No Coypus, no frogs, no birds. But my first butterfly for 2009. It's always nice to be surprised like that by the gifts Nature is offering us.

The butterfly is Gonepteryx rhamni, a common species in France, but I had never managed to get a good picture until now, so it's not only the first butterfly for 2009, it's also my first picture of this species. Not of top quality, but I'm quite happy with it, so I decided to post it anyway.

I wanted to post it earlier, but I had a very busy week - new job (with many things to learn), lot of work in the garden, and Easter feasts had me busy elsewhere, away from TN. I hope I'll be able to be more regular now, as I miss TN each day I don't have time to connect and look at your pictures.

First of all I like your touching and interesting note so much. I also wish to your friend Laila to have two nice babies soon and return to TN.

You have shared a very nice, tender shot. Its colour palette are amazing and very pleasant for look. I like this species of butterflies a lot. And you have presented it with excellent details. Blossoming branches are nice surroundings for yellow beauty. Well done and kind regards.

I love the layout of this whole picture, the designs are right and good shot! The main focus is in the center of the picture and it's leaf-like winds have a good blend with the background! Good Job, i like this picture, its nothing ive ever seen before!

et en plus une espèce difficile a prendre en photo
l'image est nette, les couleurs sont belles mais ce que je préfère dans cette photo est le décor qui nous change un peu des fleurs multicolores ou feuilles vertes

Hello Valerie,
very beautiful picture with the counter illumination. Heat- sunlight clearly it is perceived in this excellent work. In my native land this butterfly calls as "lemoner", because it has a color of lemon. I like the atmosphere of this work, composition, colors, sharpness.

Bonjour Valérie,
Comme je préfère les papillons aux araignées(je porte encore la marque d'une morsure au visage),je rends visite à ton Citron, paisiblement installé sur sur sa branche de saule.
Intéressant de lire que grâce à TN tu as une amie de plus. Et je dois dire que grâce à ce site, j'en compte aussi quelqu'uns de plus, que j'ai eu la chance de rencontrer.
Continuons donc de le soutenir pour qu'il survive!

I like the composition with the diagonal branches, and the backlight adds a nice effect!
Lovely spring colours, and DoF spot on makes the subject stand out well on the blurry background...
