As I promissed today a more interesting species. Hipparchia semele is not so often presented on TN. Today first photo of this butterfly. You can see the habitat here

Hipparchia semele
Family: Nymphalidae

Wing span: 44-54mm
Flight period: VI-IX
Caterpillars host plants: grasses (Festuca trachyphylla, Corynephorus canescens)
Habitat: dry pine forests, moors, dunes
Distribution: western and central Europe

Hi Krzysztof . I have had a look at the area where they habitat and its like an area ere to where i live. This butterfly has some very nice wing markings which you have taken with fine detail and natural colours. The spot on the wing stands out so well. TFS.

spectacular picture, congratulations for this 1st in TN!... the light is excellent and the showiest is the excellent detail of the insect framed in that great one amount of natural elements. A beautiful picture undoubtedly. Good work!

Hello Krzysztof,
Like you I think that this is a very interesting, somehow mysterious butterfly species. I also have 2-3 pictures of it in my archives. The combination of colors here is very striking, very beautiful to see the Hipparchia perched on a Calluna. Very special shot!
