This bizarre insect was also found in Panama on the way to Escobal
As far as I know treehopper vary a lot in their morphology with some even more elaborate forms. More to come...

The genus and species name of this one is Cladonota apicalis

What a strange incect Denis.
It's the first time i see this hopper.
I am waiting to see some more forms.

Awesome insect, this is a really cool specimen, I've never seen one before. Are they common in Escobal? Great shot although it would have been nice if you had a tripod for this shot to come into a little more focus. Is this some sort of mimicry or camouflage?
