Shackleford Island, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, is preserved as a nature reserve dedicated to all living things found on the island, especially the wild Spanish horses found there. No-one knows exactly how they got there, but they are maintained as a wild herd of between 110 and 130 horses, with breeding reduced by contraception. Contraception is used by the rangers to distribute breeding among different groups among the herd to reduce inbreeding. These are two young "bachelors" who have not yet managed to acquire females for themselves.

Nice shot of theses special horses. Perhaps a bit grainy.

Hello Alan,

Very nicely captured.... if we talk on the coat of its body and its color. But composition..... Personally I would like to captured them vertically where I have more scope to use different composition. But you presented well too.
Thanks for showing with useful NOTE,
Have a nice WE,

Hello Alan

Beautiful photo of these wild Spanish horses, fine frontal POV
obtaining their lovely eye-contacts, with very beautiful light, TFS

Hello Alan
It's great to see wild horses still have a safe place to live. I love this portrait of these two yearlings with their shaggy winter coats. Excellent DOF, colour and detail.
