Panther tigris altaica
|[Normas para las notas] Notas del fotógrafo|
|Controlled conditions. Female Amur tiger, six years old. Sadly, these beautiful animals are endangered. These tigers are found soley in Russia along the Amur River now. There are fewer than 500 of these tigers in the wild. There are more Amur tigers living in zoos throughout the world than in their natural habitat. |
Their diet in the wild consists mainly of wild boar and elk. When very hungry they sometimes turn to domestic livestock.

Great close-up, really nice colour and detail. Good DOF to keep everything in focus. Nice shot.

Nice portrait and the tight crop works well here. points later Well done and welcome
I smiled when I looked at you collection of images: siberian tigers, bears and panthers. I just read famous Eliade's book on shamanism. The Siberian shamans were visited at night by "ayami", a seducing succubus nymph who was always accompanied by her three guardians: jarga (panther), doonto (bear) and amba (tiger).
Here is a on-line passage on that: http://alexm.here.ru/mirrors/www.enteract.com/jwalz/Eliade/205.html
