[Normas para las notas] Notas del fotógrafo [Francés]
This photo was taken in the Ile de Re, on the commune of Rivedoux where many Common Schelduck are flying near a pool. It is very difficult to approach them to make a correct photograph. This one is not very good, but the association of three birds on the same shot was a determining factor for you to present it. ISO 400, NeatImage for the noise.
Shelduck, Tadorna tadorna. The shelduck is a mainly white duck, larger than a mallard but smaller than geese such as greylag and Canada. It has a particularly prominent red bill, black-green head, and chestnut and white upperparts. In flight, shelducks look heavy and have slow-beating wings. Where does it live? Breeding. The shelduck breeds among dense vegetation in holes, often old rabbit burrows, gaps under old buildings – or occasionally off the ground in a tree – near to coastal sandbars and mudflats. Wintering. Estuaries and sandy shores. Where to see it. Shelducks are found mainly in coastal areas, although they can also be found around inland waters such as reservoirs and gravel workings. What does it eat? Invertebrates, small shellfish and aquatic snails. What does it sound like? A sweet whistling call from the male; growling from the female.

I love your images, Didier!
For one thing, they are so rich in colour.
This one is a beauty; the birds in flight have been captured in such a way their speed is palpable in the blurred BG.
Super technical expertise!
TFS.

Merci Didier pour nous faire connaître cette espèce da canards, inconnue ici bien entendu.
Malgré les difficultés rencontrées, la photo nous fait admirer de magnifiques oiseaux. Couleurs superbes, beau nmouvement. C'est un bel instantané.
Étonnants contrastes. Bravo.
