Very atractive species from family Lasiocampidae.There are two generations of these species in year. The first one is much bigger - the wingspan is up to 90 mm. The females are bigger than the males.
The resting position is not typical - only few species of moths uses it.
The moths can be found in parks, scrubs and mixed forests. Sometimes also in orchards.
Very large and fat caterpilars can be found on different willow tress and bushes. |

except for entomologists, it is difficult to recognize this bizarre 'something'. You captured well a fresh specimen of this fascinating moth. The wing surface appears a little bit noisy?!
