Superb in-flight shot, so eccentric, superb pov with incredible sharpness. It looks so vivid, so beautiful. i like the delicate metallic yellow and green tones especially! Whatttt! EXCELLENT shot Howard, keep them coming. Great composition , colours, and detail (one can't decide whether to count the bird's feathers or the spider's hairs ...); the catchlight in the eye adds extra impact, and the spider just really tops it off. Masterpiece!

My holiday has come to an end. We arrived back home tonight. I was very pleased to have my husband use my Canon 10D while away and between the two of us I have 23.8 GB of RAW images which is 4,324 files to go through over the next while.

Hi Howard, besides the perfect technique and artistry of this shot, I like it for the surprise the spider evidently got as well as for the surprise you give us in supplying spider as well as the hummer. I only just noticed a critique you did for my digger wasp shot and this exemplifies what you said with respect to that shot perfectly...with the glass in our hand we see so much more than we would otherwise. I can count among this...A baby hedgehog not more than 2 weeks old and still blind, hedgehogs mating, a fox pair interacting, a baby Little Owl trying out its wings... The list goes on and how priviledged it makes you feel. Thank you for giving us this surprise :)

Simply stunning. Probably the best hummingbird picture I've seen. Excellent sharpness and details on the body of the bird, and the wings are in a great position, and with just enough motion blur to provide some dynamism. The spider is an unexpected bonus!

Beautiful picture Howard. I was just jumping back and forth between your previous shot of the Hummer and this one. There you had used a 1/1250 SS creating a VERY beautiful blur of the wings keeping the body in sharp focus. Here the SS is midway between creating the blur and making the wings sharp as well. Just curious if a higher SS, like 1/4000 might have enhanced the picture without affecting the luminosity?

A very good picture, espcially with the spriders :-), wouldn't have noticed them if you had not pointed them out.
