Can you see the smile? This dolphin was having such a great time. Sometimes jumping, sometimes swimming upside down or just cruising along side looking up at a silly lady making all kinds of OOOHs and AHHHs sounds. So much amazes me about dolphins, but 2 things stand out. One is that they all seem to have and show their personalities. The other is their effortless speed. They stay behind in the wake, along side or swim just under the bow with absolute ease and grace. It is so very beautiful!
Thanks for looking and for sharing all your wonderful pictures.
Kathy

Odontoceti (toothed whales)The toothed whales include dolphins, porpoises, beluga whales, beaked whales, and sperm whales

In the Atlantic Ocean, bottlenose dolphins are found from Nova Scotia and Norway to Patagonia and the tip of South Africa. They are the most abundant dolphin species along the United States from Cape Cod through the Gulf of Mexico.

In U.S. waters of the western North Atlantic, the bottlenose population is estimated at about 11,700. Of course, at least 9,200 are offshore animals (Blaylock, et al., 1995)

Hi Kathy

Excellent capture of this amazing animal, nice pose with the Dolphin riding the bow waves and good detail, infact he looks like he is showing off for the camera and he certainly looks like he is enjoying himself.

Thanks for Sharing & Well Done

Hello Kathy,
A great action shot of this dolphin enjoying himself.
It must have taken some quick reflex on your part to freeze that frame. : )
You are right, dolphins are amazing creatures.
I really like the composition,
with the dolphin making this arc out of the water.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful shot with us.

Very good and impressive shot of this dolphin. A great moment for you, I suppose!
Best regards
JJ

Bonjour Kathy,
Une image très dynamique dans un excellent cadrage. Au 250ème les goutelettes d'eau sont figées mais donnent encore du mouvement. Bien fait. Merci.
Gérard

Hi Kathy,
This is a very good catch in action! I like the compo and water splash. Wow! These animals are amazing. I never had the chance to photographed one but I love them very much. They are so intelligent and they share a complex language. TFS,
Claudine

Hi Kathy. I love dolphins! This shot encapsulates everything a natural dolphin action shot has to offer. The composition is great, PoV and splash just spot on. Something very minor though... the contrast and sharpness could be adjusted slightly, I have done a workshop to explain what I mean. I hope you don't mind. TFS Tim

Great action shot Kathy.
I play with little Hectors Dolpins here in NZ,but I've yet to get a good photo of one.
This is really good though.
Well done.

Hi Kathy, great "decisive moment" picture, well focused and arranged. On another level, the water seems really dirty (Nile water!), is this a particularly polluted area? TFS, Betty

Hi Kathy,
Amazing how the dolphin keeps his balance with his fins as can clearly be seen in your great action shot. Good sharpness and composition.
Keep gooing on like this!
Well done and TFS

Hi Kathy,
What an amazing photo. Photographing wildlife in water in very difficult, because you never know when they pop up and where. You captured her perfectly with great control over the exposure and movement.
TFS,
Niek

Nice sharp action shot. Well done.
Good composition.
It gives a hollidays feeling, beeing on a boat...
TFS

Hello Kathy, really excellent timing on this! I would be delighted if I captured one like this. Very well done.

Excellent capture Cathy. When I was in NZ I saw a pod of 200 Dolphins, but I couldn't capture one leaping. Your shot is amazing and so close!

Regards,
Pieter
