|Great Grey Shrike - Lanius excubitor|
En. Great Grey Shrike, Da. Stor Tornskade, Du. Klapekster, Fi. Isolepinkäinen, Fr. Pie-grièche grise, Ge. Raubwürger, It. Averla maggiore, No. Varsler, Sp. Alcaudón real, Sw. Varfågel
Great Grey Shrikes usually sit conspicuously on the tops of bushes or posts, scanning for prey such as rodents and small birds. They are white underneath, pearl grey above with mostly black wings and a mostly black tail. Once again, they have a striking black mask through the eye, although this does not reach round onto the forehead as in Lesser Grey Shrike. Notice how the wing tips don't even reach the back part of the tail.
Breeds and winters in open heathy areas with scattered bushes.

Effetivamente è molto meglio questa foto di quella che mi avevi mandato privatamente.
Bello l'occhio, peccato per i rami.

It is always difficult to photograph abird whenit is surrounded by a lot of twigs and other obstacles. But you have achieved a pretty good result with fine light and well presented.
TFS, ciao, Ivan
Birds in the nature is a tough subject. They hardly ever want to sit where we can get a clear shot of them.
The exposure and composition is handled well. There is some detail lost and the twigs are in the way.
averla piccola o averla grande? l'importante è averla!
com'è andata nel delta?

I couldn't see one of these yet. I thought the observation season is opening for Great Gray Shrikes in a few weeks till this photo. A bit crowded but very nice photo with this species. TFS Angelo.
