Dear Vinny,
"-the long piercing mouthpart..." is in fact one of its apendages, a part of its foot you are looking at.
It does have a "mandible". I saw it well.
If it ever returns I shall re-register it JUST FOR YOU.
Hope it returns before the snow & our harsh winter sets in. But, then, there is always next spring & summer.
